The fireworks displays around here were scattered accross the whole week. Akron was on the 4th, Fairlawn was on June 30th, etc. It seemed each separate little township (or whatever they are called out here) wanted their own day. We opted for the 30th, because it was the closest display.
We got to our spot about an hour early and hung out, trying to keep the kids entertained. We brought bubbles for Ashlyn, which did the trick. It helped when she made a friend with a little girl sitting nearby. They just played and played until we had to tell them it was getting too dark and to come stay by us. Little Lexi just enjoyed watching all the people. The fireworks were awesome. One of the better displays we have seen. Ashlyn loved it. Lexi, surprisingly, handled it pretty well. She kept trying to crawl up Justin's shoulder, but never cried. She eventually relaxed and just layed back on Justin and watched. These kiddos are awesome.
On the actual 4th of July, we went to our awesome friends' house for a BBQ. Yummy food, crazy kids, and good people. It was a great way to spend the evening. At the end we took out the sparklers, even though it wasn't quite dark enough (keep the kids up late? again? I don't think so.) Ashlyn wasn't so sure what to think about it. She liked it until it got a little too close to her hand. Wimp.
