We recently spent the day in Chicago and saw a few sights.
First, we had to take care of business, which was at the Illinois State government building, the James R. Thompson Center:

Then we took a walk to see the Cloud Gate sculpture, aka The Bean:
Then we walked a little further to the Shedd Aquarium. I didn't take many pictures inside, but it was a pretty neat aquarium:
 |
| Of course she cared more about the toys they had around than the cool fishys |
 |
| Playing in the submarine... |
 |
| The Dolphin/Whale tank. We saw a couple Belugas |

Then we had a long walk back to our car, but we got to see the Buckingham fountain:
Our first real trip to the big city was a blast. We were definitely exhausted by the time we got home. There were a few things we underestimated, such as how long it would take to go 20 miles from our hotel into the heart of Chicago (Note: 1 and 1/2 hours is not enough time), the length of a 2 mile walk (one way) at the pace of a 3-year-old, as well as the length of a 2 mile walk at the pace of an 8-month pregnant woman. But we survived, even if I am a bit sore today (dang prego hips).
.
So glad you guys spent some time in Chicago! I love that city. Isn't the aquarium cool? And the view of the city from there is the best. Next time you go - you should head to Navy Pier for the children's museum and the rides, so fun for peachy. But my favorite is the Art Institute. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteYeah, the Navy Pier is next on our list. The aquarium was kind of a last minute decision to go visit, but I'm glad we did. Lots of things to do!
DeleteGreat post Kate!
