October 2013: Kirtland, OH

So last October we finally made the trip up to Kirtland, OH.

Kirtland is only about a 40 minute drive north of here, but it took us a while to finally just check it out. And it was so good. (For those of you unfamiliar, Kirtland, OH, was the early headquarters for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. Joseph Smith and the early members lived there and built the first temple there until they were driven out by persecution/mob violence) Here are a few pictures from our visit:

The Kirtland temple. It no longer belongs to the LDS church, but to the Community of Christ. But they do give tours, and it was an awesome experience going through and seeing it. They didn't let any pictures to be taken of the inside, which is a shame since that was my absolute favorite part of the whole trip.
